We can help your Ice Hockey Officials
To all Referee in Chiefs, if you would like Radius Edge to provide your referees with a comprehensive
well structured Power Skating program specific to referees.
We will make your referees better skaters!
Every Year new recruits come on board with an exciting new job as an ice hockey official.
It's a job they have dreamed about for a long time and now they will be thrust into the
limelight and must perform.
Skating is MAJOR FACTOR for a new official. Not only are they out on the ice for the entire game, they need to be
in proper position at all times and let's not forget getting out of the way of the play.
These newest officials have little opportunity for any formal training sessions. Yes there is USA Hockey's yearly
registration seminars in early fall which combine off ice and on ice instruction. There are several USA officiating seminars during the
summer but not really aimed for the brand new Level 1 young official.
So where do the Big Dreams end up? A lot end up quitting and the reasons are many.
The young official is expected to skate upright, be observant, maintain good field of vision,
stay out of the way, keep up with play, all while potentially administering any combination
of hundreds upon hundreds of rules, signals, and measurements.
Radius Edge can help your new officials with their skating form technique and
maneuvers specific only to referees.
When a young official doesn't have to worry about skating issues then they can focus on the games playing rules
and the game itself.
We hope you'll consider our services and we will work with you to promote a clinic that will suit your organizational needs.
We suggest at least 3 hours training at a very minimum ideally 6 or more. We say this because old habits die hard, and
even with repetition of new method it takes time to develop muscle memory.
The Fruits of this Effort pay off the very first game after the clinic for most officials.
We'll come to your home rink, costs are negotiable and we have a great program specific to referees.

Manchester RIC Referee in Chief Jim Hallene
requested RADIUS EDGE provide his level 1 and 2 officials with
power skating training.
Peter Klim provided Power Skating Training for Level 1
and Level 2 USA Ice Hockey Officials. About 20 minutes was dedicated to Power Skating of
what is a one hour 15 minute skate for them at the West Side Arena in Manchester.
Referee in Chief Jim Hallene understands his officials need practice
with proper training to get the best out of his officials. His clinic works positioning
within different aspects of the game using groups thus utilizing the entire ice surface.
A well planned clinic covers a wide range of activities.
Even a twenty minute portion for training is more experience
than some new officials will ever see privately.
Jim does a great job and
we hope to hear his request again this fall.
Radius Edge Staff covered proper skating technique, philosophy, balance,
flexibility,
explosive starts, stopping, turns, backward skating, with demonstration and theory
specific to what a referee might encounter in game situations.

TriTown Ice Arena Referee in Chief Chris Rousseau
requested RADIUS EDGE provide his level 1 and 2 officials with
power skating training.
Peter Klim provided Power Skating Training for Tritown's Level 1
and Level 2 USA Ice Hockey Officials for a 10 minute classroom lecture
and then right out on the ice for a 30 minute Power Skating portion of
what is an all day seminar for them at Tritown.
This is of great benefit for the newest recruits, and all officials
appreciated the learning experience.

Several officials have said they greatly benefited from the training they received last year. We had one
official call us after last years program asking for more, and throughout the season other officials have come
forward expressing their appreciation for the Power Skating portion of what is an all day seminar for them at Tritown.
Rink General Manager Rick Vega said "Rousseau has done a fantastic job with the referees here at Tritown"
and both Rousseau and Vega were very specific in selecting RADIUS EDGE this year again with on ice training for
their officials. "All the feedback has been positive and we want you here" said Vega.
